In the April 29, 2018, issue of the Register-Guard, reporter Dylan Darling writes:
A new website offers insight into how the city of Eugene spends money.
Visitors to eugene-or.gov/openbudget will find financial information available to view as charts and graphs.
Proposed city budgets often have more than 200 pages and adopted budgets typically have about 400 pages, said Eugene Budget Manager Jaime Garner.
“A lot of people have trouble finding the information that they’re looking for, so translating it into an interactive website like this makes it a bit more accessible,” she said.
The website provides budget data from the 2018 approved budget and the 2019 proposed budget, Garner said, and the city will add future budget information as the budgets are proposed and adopted. The City Council will vote on the latest budget at the end of June.
