The group City Accountability announced it has gathered 13,000 signatures

The group City Accountability announced it has gathered 13,000 signatures (only 8,090 were needed) to get a citizens’ initiative on the May 18 ballot to amend the Eugene Charter to establish an office of an independent, elected city auditor. The group turns in the signatures 11 am Thursday, Oct. 12, at the City Manager’s Office at the Lane County Public Service Building.

The Democratic Party of Lane County Central Committee Meeting will host a Eugene performance auditor info session 6:30 pm, Sept. 21, at the Eugene Garden Club, 1645 High Street. Mayor Lucy Vinis’ performance auditor workgroup and City Accountability, the group that is pushing for an independent elected city auditor, will be presenting and taking questions.

An initiative petition has been submitted to the city of Eugene

An initiative petition has been submitted to the city of Eugene that would amend the City Charter to establish an office of an independent elected city auditor. Volunteers are needed to gather signatures to place the measure on the May 2018 ballot. The petitioners say, “This is an opportunity for area residents to help reform our city government.” A training for volunteer signature gatherers is scheduled for 5 pm, June 28, at the AFSCME offices at 688 Charnelton in downtown Eugene. This all-volunteer effort is open to all those interested in helping in whatever way they can. For more information or to contact the chief petitioners go to CityAccountability.org or call 541-520-9572.

Eugene City Council

This site is intended to support community efforts to explore having a performance auditor for the City of Eugene.

In particular, this site includes information on the Eugene Performance Auditor Study Group convened by Eugene Mayor Lucy Vinis to look at the pros and cons of different ways to establish a performance auditor.
