On May 7, 2018, OPB’s “Think Out Loud” program hosted a debate:

There are two measures on Eugene ballots that propose different ways of selecting a city auditor. They are nuanced, but essentially measure 20-283 calls for the auditor to be elected, while measure 20-287 calls for the auditor to be selected by the Eugene City Council. Bonny McCornack of Elected Auditor for City Accountability and Chris Wig of Citizens for Sensible Oversight debate the merits of the two measures.

Eugene City Council

On Monday, February 12th, 2018, at 7:30 pm, the Eugene City Council voted 5-2 (Clark & Taylor opposed, Semple absent) for Resolution No. 5219 to refer the Citizens for Sensible Oversight proposal for an independent performance auditor to voters on the May 2018 ballot.
