Lane County has hired an internal performance auditor to track the county’s use of taxpayer funds and monitor its progress toward meeting department goals, five years after the county’s last auditor retired.
The county hired Shanda Miller in January, but she was formally introduced to the Lane County Board of Commissioners this past week.
Miller will make $84,906 annually on a year-to-year contract, county spokeswoman Anne Marie Levis said. She was hired from a pool of 12 applicants.
Auditors look for and report on potential problems within any of the county’s dozens of departments, from Health and Human Services to Public Works to the Sheriff’s Office. …
